The 26th Wray Fair and Wray Scarecrow Festival is back again for 2013 and Wheildons is sponsoring the much loved event.
Running from Saturday 27th April until Monday 6th May, Wray residents display their home-made scarecrows through-out the village. This year’s theme is ‘Read Me’, which covers a wide range of things including books, newspapers, magazines, text messages much more. Anything can be created from characters in myths and fairy tale books to modern and technology based scarecrows. Every year the locals manage to create some incredible scarecrows so it will be really interesting to see what they have planned for 2013.
Other events happening over the week include the 10km Road Race and Fell Race, a traditional car boot sale, the Giant Scarecrow Parade, a classic car show and much, much more. As usual the Wray Fair will be in full swing with thousands of people expected to arrive.
